About

michelephoto24Meet Michele Corbett

When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a ballerina, but after 5 years of ballet lessons discovered that I was not all that coordinated. In junior high, I longed to be an astronomer – until I realized I wasn’t too adept in math and science.

When I graduated from college, I went out to find my first big job. After being tricked into an interview with a multi-level marketing scam and being asked by a recruiter if I would consider driving down to Mexico for a job, I realized I had not thought about what I wanted to be when I grew up for quite some time.

I did, however, go on job interviews and realize other friends would be a perfect fit. Case in point – I interviewed with a company (now Websense) when it was just a start up. I went home and called my friend Jeff to tell him I had found the perfect job for him. Several years later, he is a big player at said company. He still owes me flowers.

During this same post-college malaise of confusion and uncertainty, other friends would come to me for advice on their resumes and cover letters. How I got tagged the friend who knew how to write cover letters is beyond me. Almost 15 years later, I now realize that these experiences were a glimpse into a calling God has placed on my life. This calling is encapsulated in my mission statement: to unleash the dreams of others.

I don’t use the word calling lightly – and I know it sounds a little mystical. Getting to this understanding took a lot of soul searching and a discovery process of how God wired me.

This blog explores issues of faith and work from the perspective of a Christian who is wandering through life trying to understand how God will best use her to fulfill His purposes.

I remember how you came to edit all our resumes…you offered! And then you gave lots of advice on what to change and improve. And you did it with a tone of authority in your voice. I thought you must have known what you were doing!
